Lisbon’s most iconic and beloved celebration takes place every June!
Streets are filled with vibrant decorations, traditional basil plants, lively open-air parties, and dancing late into the night.
The aroma of grilled sardines fills the air, glasses are raised with ginjinha, and Portuguese folk music sets the soundtrack for an unforgettable celebration!
Saudade Language School invites it’s students to join for this special occasion with a guided tour through one of Lisbon’s most authentic and emblematic neighbourhoods: Alfama.
Come wander through Alfama’s charming streets, discover the stories, legends, and traditions behind this unique celebration, and experience a true taste of Portuguese culture while feeling the genuine soul of Lisbon!
Immerse yourself in one of Portugal’s most cherished traditions!
Latest Book Club Meeting

For June, the month in which we celebrate Children’s Day, we chose Children’s Literature as the topic for our next Book Club meeting, as it lies at the heart of how many of us first connect with language and discover the joy of reading.
At 10:30am, before our regular Book Club session, we will have a special session dedicated to children’s literature, open to families, students, and new participants.
This session will feature the special participation of Joana Pinho, author of As Elfas e os Sete Sentidos, who will delight us with a reading and discussion of the story.
We believe this session will also be of interest to our Entrelinhistas and, therefore, we extend the invitation to participate as well. In addition to its playful and family-friendly aspect, we are certain it will be an excellent opportunity for reading, comprehension, and reflection, particularly relevant for those who learn and live the Portuguese language.
At 11:30am, the session dedicated to children’s literature ends and the regular Book Club session begins.
We will have a reading and discussion session about the book O Gato Malhado e a Andorinha Sinhá, by Jorge Amado.
