Carmo Barracks
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the event of April 25th, 1974, the Museum of the Guarda Nacional Republicana (G.N.R.) opened the doors of the Carmo Barracks to the public for a limited time! Saudade could not miss this opportunity to take its students to this historic location for a special guided tour!
Located in the iconic Largo do Carmo, the barracks were the setting for one of the most significant moments of the Carnation Revolution, which brought an end to the dictatorship in Portugal.
Our students enjoyed exploring this symbolic landmark, admiring the grandeur of the Noble Hall, taking in the magnificent view from the main balcony, and discovering the legacy that shaped modern Portugal!
