Book Club #7: Lisboa – Livro de Bordo

For this 7th session of our Book Club, we chose to talk about Lisbon, our beautiful country’s capital city!

We proposed a small book, Lisboa – Livro de Bordo (Lisbon – Logbook), by the writer José Cardoso Pires. This book was written in 1997 as an official commission as part of the preparations for EXPO 98 – the world exposition that was organized in Lisbon in 1998, and marked the beginning of a new era for the city.

That said, instead of creating a tourist itinerary or a text with historical facts, José Cardoso Pires wrote a love letter to Lisbon, with chronicles, memories, and accounts of its artists, its characters, its daily life, with its good and less good aspects.
