Liberty Day Tour

We met our tour guide Daniela at Museu do Aljube. Dedicated to the memory of the resistance, the museum is located in the former Aljube prison, which functioned as a political prison of the Estado Novo between 1928 and 1965.

After that, we went down to Terreiro do Paço. We took a moment to gaze up at Ponte 25 de Abril and discuss the symbolism held by this suspension bridge.

Then, we went up the hill to Largo do Carmo. We reflected on the history of what occurred in this square on that April dawn in 1974.

Lastly, we finished our tour by toasting with sweet Portuguese Ginjinha, celebrating freedom and the friendship that unites us all!

Saudade Language School
