Walking Tour – Lisbon’s Workers’ Villages
This month, we took our students on a guided tour through Lisbon’s Workers’ Villages, in Graça!
Built in the 19th century to provide housing for the growing population migrating from the countryside to work in the city’s emerging factories, they have become historic locales that make up the traditional neighbourhood spirit so characteristic of the city of Lisbon.
Our dear students loved this walking tour, not only because of the beautiful sunny day, but also because they discovered places they didn’t know about, such as Voz do Operário, Vila Sousa, Vila Berta, Vila Estrela D’Ouro and Vila Maria, learning about their history in Portuguese!
