General Conditions

  1. In order to book a place on a course, the student must fill in the Saudade Language School’s enrolment form and accept the Terms and Conditions.
  2. Full payment for the course must be made before the first day of the course by bank transfer, or in person before the first class.
  3. The discount provided on the purchase of several course modules can only be applied if they are paid at once and in full.
  4. The course price includes enrolment fees, all the didactic material used in classes, the possibility to participate in the social and cultural activities promoted by the school and a Certificate of Attendance provided at the end of the course.
  5. The course price also includes school insurance (only and during face-to-face classes at the school), but doesn’t include textbooks, transfers or any extracurricular activities.
  6. If the Progressive Course has less than two students enrolled, Saudade Language School reserves the right to cancel the course. If the student has already paid, they can ask for a refund or wait for the next course opening.
  7. If the 30-hour Intensive Group Course has less than two students enrolled, Saudade Language School reserves the right to convert the course into a Private Intensive Course, with individual daily lessons of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The price is also converted to that of the Private Intensive Course. If the student does not wish to participate in these short-form private classes, they can request a refund.

Cancellations and Course Changes

  1. Students may withdraw from a course up to 48 hours before the starting date via written notice. If the course has already been paid for, Saudade Language School will fully reimburse the student.
  2. Students may change their course and timetable up to 48 hours before its starting date, subject to the school’s availability.
  3. Once a course has begun, students who wish to change from one course to another (subject to the school’s availability) will receive credit for their unattended lessons, and should pay the difference in course prices.
  4. Students who enroll and pay for a course but are unable to finish it on the dates and schedule previously agreed upon with Saudade Language School will be given the possibility to finish their lessons within 3 months. After this deadline, the unattended lessons will be considered expired and no refunds will be issued.
  5. In exceptional circumstances — duly communicated and justified —, Saudade Language School may consider a partial refund for classes not attended in the first 30 days after payment for the course.
  6. Saudade Language School reserves the right to change schedules, teachers, or cancel courses/groups in case of an insufficient number of students or for operational reasons.

Absence Policy

  1. Students must notify Saudade Language School 24 hours in advance if they are unable to attend class. In such cases, the class will be saved for later rescheduling, subject to the school’s availability.
  2. For Progressive Courses, students also have access to flex classes per module, designed for unexpected situations where it was not possible to give the 24 hours’ notice. Flex classes allow students to be absent without 24 hours’ prior notice and make up the class later, according to the school’s availability. Once the flex classes allocated to the module are exhausted, absences without 24 hours’ prior notice will result in the loss of the class, without compensation or refund. Students are still required to notify the school of these absences to make use of flex classes.
  3. For Progressive Courses:
    • Students enrolled in courses with 2 weekly lessons are entitled to up to 2 flex classes per 4-week module
    • Students enrolled in courses with 3 weekly lessons are entitled to up to 3 flex classes per 4-week module
  4. For Individual Courses, classes cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are considered attended and there will be no replacement class nor refund.
  5. There will be no replacement classes nor refunds for missed classes in Intensive Group courses, courses in Pairs, or Corporate Group courses.
  6. Students wishing to obtain a Certificate of Attendance must attend at least 75% of the course classes.

Holidays and Public Holidays

  1. Saudade Language School is open for classes from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 20:30.
  2. Saudade Language School’s office hours are from 14:00 to 18:00.
  3. Saudade Language School reserves the right to be closed on Portuguese public holidays. Should this occur, all students will be duly informed in advance.
  4. Saudade Language School does not provide a refund for cancelled classes due to public holidays or teacher absence. In these situations, lessons are rescheduled.
  5. Saudade Language School closes annually for Christmas holidays in the last 2 weeks of December.
  6. If Saudade Language School is closed unexpectedly, it will endeavour to reschedule all affected classes.

Visa Letter Conditions

If a student needs an acceptance letter from the school to request a Student Visa letter, the following conditions are applied:

  1. The student will be required to pay 30% of the total course price plus 150,00€ for acceptance letter costs. The payment must be made in advance by bank transfer.
  2. The student must pay for the remaining 70% amount of the course up to the course starting date.
  3. The acceptance letter will confirm the course start and end dates, and will consider the information regarding the course previously booked by the student.
  4. If the Student Visa is to be rejected, Saudade Language School will refund the 30% payment of the total course price previously paid by the student, upon presentation of an official dated document from the Embassy regarding its rejection.
  5. The 150,00€ of Acceptance Letter costs are not refundable if the Student Visa application is rejected.
